What’s the best beauty and skin care treatment? Well, recommended products and treatments vary depending on one’s sex and age, but there are some rules that apply to everyone. Here’s a brief look at some of them.

Let’s just start with the obvious or what should be obvious. Cigarette smoke contains a variety of chemicals that are damaging. People who smoke have more wrinkles around their eyes and mouths, than people who do not. So, if you smoke, quit now. It also stains the teeth and finger nails, so in order for your beauty and skin care treatment to be complete, you need to limit your exposure to smoke and other environmental pollutants.

All types of pollution, as well as overexposure to the sun, trigger the production of free radicals. These cause cellular mutations that eventually become wrinkles and can become cancer. That’s why many experts recommend wearing sunscreen as part of their beauty and skin care treatment plans.

But, there is a growing body of evidence indicating that this is not a very good idea. Sun-block, containing zinc oxide, is a “yes”, but the major brands of screening lotions only protect you from UVB rays and UVAs are actually the most damaging.

A lot of beauty and skin care treatment products designed to be used on a daily basis contain sunscreens. You may want to check the label, because with continued use, you could end up with a vitamin D deficiency. Lack of vitamin D, along with calcium and other minerals, contributes to osteoporosis. Curved spines are not pretty and brittle bones are easily broken. Always put your health first.

There is new move towards nutrition in beauty and skin care treatment products. You’ll see new items that contain Vitamin E, coenzyme Q10 and other antioxidants as well as B-vitamins, calcium and other minerals. The problem with most of them is that they are not processed finely enough to be absorbed through the pores.

You have to look for a company that specializes in making products that are “readily available for use by the skin-cells”. The best ones specialize in dietary supplements, so they are accustomed to unique manufacturing processes that make nutrients more “bio-available”.

How about honey? You know it tastes good and it is considered healthier for sweetening than processed sugar, but did you know that it is good for your skin? Beauty and skin care treatment has moved away from paraffin waxes and mineral oils and towards vegetable oils and natural waxes. They moisturize and lock in moisture.

Honey, has very little water, so it is not a natural moisturizer, but it will not dehydrate your skin-cells like alcohols and other ingredients. It also prevents the growth of bacteria and other microorganisms that can cause changes in tone and texture, as well as pimples and black heads. You don’t use the same type that you buy in the grocery store, though. It’s too sticky, for one thing.

The best kind is manuka honey from New Zealand. There are a number of beauty and skin care treatment ingredients that are unique to the island nation. An extract from the wool of their sheep induces collagen growth and skin cell production. Their mineral clay makes a great weekly mask that tightens pores and softens the skin. But, you don’t have to travel there to get them, thanks to the internet. You just have to know where to look.

The Key Facts of an Anti Aging Skin Care Guide

Everyone seems to have an anti aging skin care guide these days. Use this. Eat that. Drink this. Buy, buy, buy… There are lots of facts out there. But, there are plenty of myths and misunderstandings.

The first tip in any anti aging skin care guide is to stay out of the sun or use sunscreen. The face is nearly always exposed. If you are older, you can literally see the difference by looking at an area of the body that is not normally exposed to the sun.

The problem here is that most people think that as long as they use a sunscreen with a high SPF rating, they are protected. The truth is that sunscreens only protect you from UVB rays, while UVA rays are the ones that alter pigmentation, damage DNA and cause the face to look older than the rest of the body.

A new idea, not seen in the average anti aging skin care guide, comes to us from researchers in New Zealand. They have found that we can use lotions containing coenzyme Q10 to protect ourselves from UVA rays, something the sunscreens cannot do. Don’t misunderstand, you still need the sunscreen, but it’s just not enough.

Another falsehood that you may read is that scrubbing, exfoliating and things like microdermabrasion are good. The truth is exactly the opposite. You should treat your face gently, kindly. It’s sensitive.

Scrubbing removes protective oils. Exfoliating actually removes “live” as well as “dead” cells. An occasional cleansing mask is a better choice. Microdermabrasion is a waste of money. It has no lasting effects and can actually make your face look worse. Many people come away with redness, burns and rashes. A nourishing hydrating mask, on the other hand, leaves your skin feeling clean, smooth and radiant.

One of the biggest lies in the anti aging skin care guide that we looked at is this. Expensive products work best.

The expensive mass marketed brands do not contain better or more active ingredients. They cost more because the companies invest so much money in advertising and celebrity endorsements. The money would be better spent in researching and developing better products, but they would rather stick with what they have and sell it to more people.

So, you see all of these “new and improved” products on the home shopping network, when they actually contain nothing new and they haven’t improved the product at all. There are new developments in the area, but you won’t see them in the big name brands, at least not yet.

Whenever you read an anti aging skin care guide, look at the source. If it comes from a manufacturer, then they are probably trying to promote their products. Most of them do nothing more than hydrate. They do not “erase” wrinkles. They do not nourish the skin.

There are newer and more effective creams that do “reduce” fine lines and wrinkles. But you have to look for them. You will not find them on the aisle in Wal-mart. Hopefully, our anti aging skin care guide has informed you about what to look for and what to avoid.

A product originally developed as a possible way to treat battlefield injuries is now part of an anti-aging treatment.

Texas Beautiful Image, Inc. says its “Maximum Cosmetic Recovery” treatment replaces up to two years of lost elastin, a protein that makes skin tighter and smoother.

The procedure involves wands that deliver a “microcurrent,” combined with a cream Elastatropin, the laboratory synthesized form of human tropoelastin. Tropoelastin was developed as part of a Department of Defense competition on wound healing and tissue regeneration held to help treat battlefield injuries.

At a recent demonstration, Nelson Thibodeaux, TBI president, said the results are immediate. more details
