Even if you don’t have many lines and wrinkles yet, there are some days that we could use an extra boost and those creams offer you the possibility to look your best with a simple gesture.

The DMAE is the next nig thing in cosmetics and dermatology and is being widely used in several lotions for the face and the body. It offers not only an instant fix but it also feeds the skin and has great log-term advantages.

One of he most known Cinderella effect creams are the ones used for the under eye area; they create a temporary film under your eye that covers the puffiness, the wrinkles and the dark circles; that alone can actually make a big difference in the way you look.

Cinderella effect creams are the science at its best, working in our favour. The creams are not very cheap but the results are truly amazing.

Wear Sunscreen for Lifelong Benefits

Most people, especially children, love to be out in the summer sun, but parents should remember that no tan is a good tan.

“Remember that if you form a tan, you will have ultraviolet radiation damage,” Dr. Alfred Lane, a pediatrician and researcher at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital, said in a news release from the northern California facility. “Unfortunately, the body really doesn’t forget this damage. It accumulates from childhood through adolescence and adulthood, and this can lead to skin cancer.”

Lane, who is also a professor of dermatology and pediatrics at the Stanford University School of Medicine, offers tips to help protect young and old from sun damage:

  • Always use a waterproof sunscreen with at least a 30 SPF (sun protection factor) — the higher, the better for protection from ultraviolet damage and skin cancer — before going outside in the daylight.
  • Wear clothing with high SPF. Even then, don’t forget to put sunscreen on all exposed skin.
  • The format of the sunscreen — stick, lotion or spray — doesn’t matter as long as it is used. However, to avoid getting sunscreen in the eyes and mouth, a stick might be best to use around those areas.
  • Because sunscreens are not recommended for children younger than 6 months, dress infants in a hat, long sleeves and long pants and keep them in the shade whenever possible. Carefully applying a little sunscreen on their exposed face or hands should be fine.

Molecule in Skin May Link Eczema and Asthma

A substance secreted by eczema-damaged skin might trigger asthma in children, U.S. researchers suggest.

The theory comes from a study of mice with an eczema-like condition, which suggested that early treatment of eczema and inhibition of the trigger substance might help prevent asthma.

An estimated 50% to 70% of children with severe eczema, known as atopic dermatitis, develop asthma, compared with about 9% of children in the general population. In the United States, about 17% of children have eczema, although not all cases are severe.

The progression from eczema to asthma is called the atopic march.

“Over the years, the clinical community has struggled to explain atopic march,” Raphael Kopan, a professor of developmental biology and dermatology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis and an author of the study, said in a news release from the school.

Sol-Gel Technologies Ltd, a specialty pharmaceuticals company, announced today results from a comparative clinical study. The results demonstrate that the company’s two strength Anti-Acne kits achieved pronounced efficacy and markedly improved tolerability. The study will be presented at the 10th International Congress of Dermatology in Prague, May 20-23, 2009.

“As early as week two we noted a very early reduction of acne lesions, which was significantly superior to leading commercial products, and at week four a 75 percent improvement was achieved,” said Stanley Shapiro, PhD, Head of Sol-Gel’s Skin Care Science & Technology unit. “Throughout the study Sol-Gel’s high-strength kits were significantly better tolerated than the two commercial products.”

The Sol-Gel Anti-Acne kits feature Sol-Gel’s patented drug delivery technology. “In the Sol-Gel kits, the proprietary silica microcapsules encase and continuously release the benzoyl peroxide, enabling a significant increase in efficacy and tolerance in comparison to products containing free benzoyl peroxide,” said Ofer Toledano, PhD, VP, Research and Development.

According to dermatologists interviewed during a survey, the following five conditions continue to be the most persistent problems that require dermatology skin treatments.  Since they are so common, chances are that you’ll suffer through one or more of them at least once in your life.  Read on and know what to expect.

Acne

According to statistics, acne affects over 85% of teens.  While majority of these cases disappear after a while, some people continue to experience them further on in life.  If you’re afflicted with acne, start with a home-based anti-acne solution using a tried-and-tested product based on either salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide.  For persistent and severe cases, dermatology skin treatments may include antibiotics, retinoid-based medications or laser therapies.

Rashes From Allergies

When you incur rashes that last more than a day, always consult a dermatologist.  Their actual cause can vary, although most rashes will be due to an allergy of some kind.  Most likely, you’ll be given an oral anti-allergy medication, as well as topical dermatology skin treatments.

Eczema And Psoriasis

These inflammatory and persistent skin issues can be difficult to treat, apart from being unsightly.  If you find yourself beset with them, visit a dermatologist as soon as possible.  Early dermatology skin treatments will involve some form of topical corticosteroids.  More severe cases may require photo/light treatments and prescription medication.
