prevage Prevage Anti Aging Treatment by Elizabeth Arden Prevage Anti-Aging Treatment, the result of a partnership between Elizabeth Arden and Allergan (makes of Botox cosmetic), is an antioxidant-based formula purported to correct cellular damage and prevent its future occurrence.

This product, which carries an Environmental Protection Factor (EPF) of 35, promises a lot and tends to pile on the hype in its marketing.  Word around those who have used it, however, say it works as advertised, capably altering the chain reaction that leads to fine lines and other visible signs of aging.

It works via the antioxidant Idebenone, one of the most powerful nutrients for cellular repair and damage prevention.  Done regularly, it can lead to significant reduction in the prominence of fine lines and wrinkles, as well as improving the skin’s overall tone and radiance.  During clinical trials, 81% of those tested, showed significant improvements in their skin, even among those that exhibited severe sun damage.

Because of its potency, the company advises consumers with sensitive skin to apply light amounts on a small area for the first few days and refrain if any allergic reactions occur. For those with at least normal skin types, Prevage should work without much concerns.  You can get an MD version of the treatment from a doctor (double the potency) although many have commented that the over-the-counter version may provide even better results.

Here’s a good review of the product from the Amazon website:

I have used both the .5% Prevage and the 1.0% Prevage MD. I prefer the half-strength for a couple of reasons. First, with the .5%, you get almost twice as much (1.7 oz versus 1.0 oz) and, as such, I felt more comfortable using more product - 2 pumps twice a day as opposed to 2 pumps at night for the MD. Using the product this way got much better results for my skin - with the MD, it felt drier and itchier and it didn’t seem to work as well. However, I am sure it varies with individual skin types. This product is not going to replicate the effects you’d get with a few well-placed injections, but for me, it really does firm up my skin a bit and soften some lines. As I haven’t had a full night’s sleep in about 2 years due to birthing babies, I am going to try the eye treatment as well. (Although honestly, I’d prefer a month of sleep!)

The Prevage Anti-Aging Treatment (both the gentler and MD versions) is currently available from Amazon.
