Best way to Prevent Wrinkles

Worrying to death about wrinkles, when they have already obstinately appeared on your skin, is of no use. You should start adopting preventive measures long before they arrive- otherwise you won’t be able to delay wrinkle formation. Here we will provide you with a few helpful tips that will help prevent wrinkles.

Let’s look at what actually causes wrinkles- it is not simply a sign of aging. Premature wrinkling could also point an accusatory finger at your unhealthy lifestyle. It could be a result of excessive smoking, drinking and sleep deprivation. And finally, you must protect your skin adequately from the UV rays of the run. This is perhaps one of the main causes why your skin suffers damage. Over exposure to UVA and UVB rays of the sun not only leads to wrinkle formation, but could also result in skin cancer. It leads to the production of free radicals, i.e. negatively charged oxygen molecules, within our body. These free radicals directly contribute to wrinkle formation!

You could use one of the many reputed anti wrinkle creams available in the market these days. You could also opt for over the counter medications such as serums or lotions containing hydroxy acids that could also delay premature wrinkling. There are however a few things that you should remember:

Anti-oxidants

Always choose a cream that contains antioxidants like Vitamin E. These anti oxidants fight the presence of free radicals in your body and reduce the number of wrinkles on your face, leaving you with younger looking skin. Recent researches have proved that green tea is a storehouse of antioxidants, especially when it is drunk without sugar or milk.

Balanced Diet

One surely cannot solely depend on just creams and lotions to do the trick. You must try and heal yourself from within. Make sure that you consume proper meals throughout the day, starting off with vitamins like A, C, E and K. Eat green leafy vegetables as well as citrus fruits. Vitamin B5 is also of utmost importance here. It aids the skin in retaining moisture and thus remaining hydrated for a long period of time. Hence, your skin will remain soft and supple and will not dry out as it is prone to in old age. Also eat food that is rich in iron and calcium content.

Stop Smoking!

Smoking inhibits the production of collagen required to keep your skin younger looking. Therefore, it not only harms your skin but also causes premature wrinkling. Stop smoking today if you want to lead a long and happy life.

If those wrinkles on your face have already appeared, do not fret. All is not lost. As had already been mentioned, remedial creams have flooded the market these days. Consult a dermatologist and ask for his/her opinion before opting for a medication that could help you out. However, relying solely on creams that will produce collagen will not have a lasting effect on those wrinkles- you should simultaneously make changes in your diet to ensure that you remain healthy as long as you live! Drink lots of water, sleep regularly for around seven hours daily and exercise. It will make all the difference in the world.

Reviva Skin Care Labs Antioxidant Creams

With the multitude of skin cancer cases reported by the National Cancer Institute, sun damage to human skin could be reaching epidemic proportions. Reviva Skin Care Labs has stressed that a strong anti-oxidant cream formulated for absorption deeper than the sunscreen cream or lotion, and applied under the sunscreen, can offer an important extra level of protection against sun damage.

Sunscreens are important but they work only on the surface. Some degree of free-radical ultra-violet rays (particularly UV-A,the aging rays) often get through. A strong anti-oxidant cream could “zap” free radicals that get through the sunscreen.

Reviva Labs offers two such antioxidant creams formulated for deeper absorption.

Men are twice as likely as women to not protect their skin in the sun, despite more men dying from melanoma than women, according to research due to be released at the British Association of Dermatologists annual conference in Glasgow next month.

The shocking survey of 1213 adults formed part of the Northern Ireland Omnibus Survey published in September 2008, a regular survey of the lifestyle and views of the people of Northern Ireland*.

It also found that people in their teens and early twenties are less likely than any other age group to use sun protection, despite increasing numbers of melanoma being diagnosed in this age group.

One in ten people surveyed (10%) take no protective measures at all against sun exposure (compared to 8% in 2000).

Wear Sunscreen for Lifelong Benefits

Most people, especially children, love to be out in the summer sun, but parents should remember that no tan is a good tan.

“Remember that if you form a tan, you will have ultraviolet radiation damage,” Dr. Alfred Lane, a pediatrician and researcher at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital, said in a news release from the northern California facility. “Unfortunately, the body really doesn’t forget this damage. It accumulates from childhood through adolescence and adulthood, and this can lead to skin cancer.”

Lane, who is also a professor of dermatology and pediatrics at the Stanford University School of Medicine, offers tips to help protect young and old from sun damage:

  • Always use a waterproof sunscreen with at least a 30 SPF (sun protection factor) — the higher, the better for protection from ultraviolet damage and skin cancer — before going outside in the daylight.
  • Wear clothing with high SPF. Even then, don’t forget to put sunscreen on all exposed skin.
  • The format of the sunscreen — stick, lotion or spray — doesn’t matter as long as it is used. However, to avoid getting sunscreen in the eyes and mouth, a stick might be best to use around those areas.
  • Because sunscreens are not recommended for children younger than 6 months, dress infants in a hat, long sleeves and long pants and keep them in the shade whenever possible. Carefully applying a little sunscreen on their exposed face or hands should be fine.

Actinic keratoses are sun-damaged rough patches or lesions on the skin - often pink and scaly - that doctors have long believed can turn into a form of skin cancer known as squamous cell carcinoma.

Now researchers at Brown University, the Veterans Administration Medical Centers in Providence and Oklahoma City, and others have determined that actinic keratoses appear responsible for a larger spectrum of skin cancers than previously thought. Their research is highlighted in the current edition of Cancer.

“We found some interesting things,” said Dr. Martin Weinstock, the paper’s lead author. Weinstock, chief of dermatology at the VA Medical Center in Providence, is professor of dermatology and community health at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Office of Research and Development funded the study.
